Getting to know Savage

Savage is doing a great job adjusting to retirement! It took him a few weeks to learn our routine and the rules of the house, but now that he knows those things he's been a good boy.

He likes to help with laundry and dishes and loves to be around people. He also likes to cuddle. Savage seems to think he's a lap dog even though he weighs over 70 pounds! He will hop right up in your lap or rest his head on your leg and go to sleep. :-)

I won't be able to bring him to the Meet & Greet this weekend, but he should be making some M&G appearances within the next few weeks. Watch his blog for updates on when you'll be able to meet this sweet boy.

More About Savage

I've been trying to get pictures of Savage in our back yard, but he's just too quick! Unlike our resident hounds who take their time going out, Savage trots around the fence perimeter to check things out, does his business and then goes right back to the door to go inside. I think this is because he's ready to get back to his new favorite activity - napping. Here's a picture of him displaying a classic greyhound sleeping position: the bendy-nose with ETS (escaped tongue syndrome). :-)

Other things we've learned about Savage this week:

He's not afraid of the vacuum cleaner or thunderstorms,

He loves bully sticks,

And he loves to be petted. If you are petting him and stop he'll poke you with his front paws and give you a really sad look until you start petting him again.

Here's a picture of him with our two resident hounds. He's the one in the middle. They're standing by the pantry door where we keep all of the yummy dog treats, which I think is the reason he's smiling.

Say Hello to Savage

Savage is doing a greyt job adjusting to retirement! His name doesn't fit his personality at all. He's a sweet, happy, playful boy.

He loves to play with stuffies and explore in the back yard. He also likes going on walks and is learning to walk well on a leash. He gets excited and pulls sometimes, but is getting a lot better. He's also a champion napper.

He gets along well with our resident greys. Here he is sharing a bed with our girl LaLa.

He crates well and has learned to do the stairs, although he's still a bit clumsy. And - he sits! He surprised me  a few days ago by just sitting down on his own to look out the window.

Savage is a greyt boy and will be a greyt addition to the lucky family that adopts him!
